Ron received the OCBC Outstanding Student Award and SMU Alumnus Finance Mentoring Award in Academic Year 2017-18 and attained Beta Gamma Sigma membership in 2020. Ron served in the Executive Committee of SMU Emerging Markets as Director of Central & East Asia Desk in 2018 where he trained members on sector research, financial analysis, and databases, and wrote monthly research papers on key Chinese industries.

He was a member of SMUX Trekking, and led three high-altitude expeditions to China, India, and Nepal. Ron participated in the Moving Generations Programme (Cycling Without Age) to conduct safe and interactive trishaw rides for beneficiaries around heartland estates, parks, and Car-Free events.

He also participated in HCSA Community Services Programme to train home-based businesses on technical skills in using applications and created a break-even and profit analysis spreadsheet for the beneficiaries to use.
